We believe that parents and guardians have an incredible impact on their child’s learning and play an essential role in helping their child to succeed at school. Research shows that when parents are involved students have:
- Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
- More homework completed
- Better school attendance
- Increased motivation, better self-esteem
- Lower rates of suspension
- More positive attitudes and behaviour
- Increased enrolment in post-secondary education
There are many opportunities to become involved with NRHS, including School Advisory Council, coaching, chaperoning events, etc. But being involved goes beyond volunteering. Helping your child with his/her homework, making time to talk about their day and what is coming up all contribute to a child's sense of well-being and success. You are your child's first and most influential teacher, therefore, the best success will be realized when in-school learning is supported at home.
It is important to remember that success looks different for all children, but to achieve success it takes the involvement and interest of parents and guardians. To learn more about opportunities to get involved at NRHS please contact us.
